About the Organization :
World Lung Foundation (WLF) is an
international public health organization
that was established in 2004 in response to
the global epidemic of lung disease, which
kills 10 million people each year. The
organization supports international public
health activities in the areas of tobacco
control, maternal health, and acute
respiratory infections (ARIs). WLF is one of
five coordinating partners of the Bloomberg
Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use, which
focuses on low and middle income
countries, where more than two-thirds of
the world’s smokers live. The partnership
includes: the World Health Organization
(WHO), The Union for Tuberculosis and
Lung Disease, Campaign for Tobacco Free
Kids (CTFK), Centres for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC), and Johns Hopkins
University.
The hallmark of WLF’s International Health
Communication program is its use of science
and evidence to guide the development of
population-level health communication
campaigns. Through rigorous message
testing of campaign materials, and
evaluation of programs, WLF has
contributed to the development of best
practice approaches to health promotion in
low- and middle-income countries. To date,
WLF’s campaigns have reached over 1
billion people world-wide. WLF has
conducted over 80 message testing and
evaluation studies.
Position
WLF is seeking to hire a research assistant
as an Intern in its New Delhi office.
Reporting to the Director-Global, Research
and Evaluation, this position will support
its global research activities. Specific
responsibilities/ tasks will include:
Responsibilities
Do the following under direction
– Prepare project schedules
– Manage project schedules
– Review, edit, and adapt research protocols,
as directed
– Review, edit, and adapt research RFPs, as
directed
– Communicate with vendors and other
internal staff on project, as necessary
– Provide varied administrative assistance
Skills
– Bachelors degree, Masters preferred
– Background in social sciences peferred
– 2+ years relevant experience
– Strong organizational skills and project
management experience is critical
– Knowledge of research methods a plus
– Highly organized and efficient with ability
to deliver tasks quickly and of high quality
– Ability to multitask in a new environment
– Demonstrated verbal, written, and
interpersonal communication skills
– Proficiency with MS Office
– Ability to work both independently and as
part of a team, self-directed, strong work
ethic and adherence to deadlines
– Strong initiative: self-starter with good
follow through
– Resourceful, willing to learn on the job
Duration and Hours :
3-month period, about 20 hours a week
