About Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Centre of Socio-Economic studies for the weaker sections of Society Panjab University, Chandigarh was established in 2001. Its vision and mission includes to make an attempt to disseminate the ideas, philosophy, knowledge and contribution of Dr. Ambedkar to society. The focuses on B. R. Ambedkar’s life and mission, his legacy, literature and its relevance, philosophy and his vision. The Centre also focuses on Dr. Ambedkar’s thoughts on India’s National Spirit and his
approach for marginalized groups. The main objectives of the centre includes a study of the work of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar scientifically and objectively to understand his relevance in present society and to focus on
his contributions for the upliftment of the deprived sections of the society.
About Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, He became the Law Minister in the interim Government of India. He also acted as the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution. Owning to his academic scholarship, constitutional expertise, analytical thinking on societal fabric in India, social justice, equality, fraternity, and democracy were his cherished goals, which he successfully translated into reality through the Constitution of India. After seventy years of the independence, the ideals of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar remained relevant and further needs scholarly attention to explore new venue to safeguards his intended objectives Therefore a pressing need is felt by the Centre to conduct a study to understand and analyse the role of different Indian Governments of post-Independence era, in the realization of Dr. Ambedkar’s vision, and in the implementation of constitutional provisions to promote social justice, equality and the welfare of weaker sections.
CALL FOR PAPERS for the proposed seminar to celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with special thrust on his vision with theme, DR AMBEDKAR’S VISION AND THE Constitution OF INDIA, going to be organized on 25th May 2017 by Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Centre of Socio-Economic studies for the weaker sections of Society Panjab University, Chandigarh.
1. Ideals of the Constitution; Sovereignty, Federalism with Unitary tendency, Rule of Law, Secularism, Equality, Liberty and Fraternity
2. Constitutional Institutions; Parliamentary Democracy independence of Judiciary, Position of the President and Governor,
3. Social Justice; Protective Discrimination in Favour of weaker sections (SC/ST/OBC/minority/Gender/children etc)

Quality abstracts shall be selected by the designated academic committee; and intimation for the same will be sent for submission of the full paper with necessary details thereof.
