Two Day Capacity Building National Workshop on
Writing Research Paper
December 9th & 10th, 2017
About the Workshop
Writing a scientific research paper is a pre-requisite for undertaking research investigation. Scientific papers are considered as an important indicator to measure the research output of an individual and also to rate the performance of an institution, a university and also a country. This indicator is directly linked to the career of an individual researcher and also to an institution for getting funds, recognition etc. Hence, a great deal of value is attached for publishing high quality research paper. The workshop on Writing Research Papers is primarily targeted at Research Scholars, Academicians and students in providing useful insights about writing good quality research paper. We are aware of the fact that there is a consistent demand on academicians and researchers to produce good quality research papers. This demand is institutionalized in the requirements laid down by the regulatory bodies and the strategic attempts by educational institutions to manage research. Researchers publish their research findings mainly in the form of article/ papers in scientific and technical journals.. A substantive research effort is involved in writing a scientific research paper by a large number of researchers and industry experts. However several researchers do not know how to write a scientific research paper with the result that a large number of papers are rejected by peer reviewed quality journals.
“Publish or perish” is the order of the day. Keeping this in mind the objective of this workshop is to unpack what constitutes a great research paper and outline the pleasures and pitfalls of writing it. There are several tasks involved in the process of publication such as contents of the scientific paper, referencing styles and tools, citation, databases, publishing ethics and plagiarism, choosing right journal, Impact factor and H Index etc.
