GNLU CENTRE FOR LAW & ECONOMICS ORGANIZES ONE DAY SEMINAR ON IBC: The Efficiency Mechanism in Practice ON 27TH JULY 2019:
The Government has enacted the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) in 2016 for consolidating the Insolvency Laws in India and ensuring efficient disposal of insolvency claims. This Act governs the insolvency proceedings of individuals, limited liability partnerships and companies. It has a specified time frame for the speedy disposal of the insolvency proceedings. This Act has created Insolvency Professionals for dealing with insolvency proceedings, including preparation of settlement plans. The IBC is creditor centric and it has reduced the transaction cost of the recovery process. The centre is working in the domain of economic analysis of Insolvency Law. It has decided to conduct the seminar to give the practical knowledge on how IBC proceedings take place, the efficiency of IBC on resolving the insolvency related disputes and how IBC ensure the financial stability in the market.
About the Seminar:
This seminar will provide the participants with an understanding of the practical application of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. The Practitioners would be sharing their experiences, which will make the participants to understand how the insolvency process actually works. The seminar will also give the participants an understanding of the bidding process under the IBC. The IBC will be analyzed through the lens of Law and Economics.

- Participants will understand how the insolvency professional are appointed, what are their powers, duties and responsibilities, how the process of insolvency works and how the bidding process is carried out under the Code.
