About the Conference

Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, is organizing a national conference in partnership with Save the Children and Plan India on 8-9 November 2019 at XISS, Ranchi.

Since its inception in 1955, XISS has been engaged in raising the voices of the marginalized and deprived sections of society. The Institute is committed to empowering those who are left behind and become their voice through its academic programmes, research and field interventions. Over the years, it is realized that through our efforts and intervention, we have been able to bring some changes in the lives of people, however, much remains to be done considering the rising social, cultural and economic divide in Indian society. In this context, it was thought to organize a national conference at the Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi on 8-9 November 2019. The conference aims to tap into and echo unheard voices so that it can bring changes in the lives of marginalized, poor, vulnerable and unheard population groups. The conference will further emphasize the need to frame appropriate policies and take action in the context of SDGs, as these are an integral part of the development of such deprived populations. It will be a platform for bringing together intellectuals, leaders, development practitioners and survivors to share their perspectives, narratives, stories, and concerns. The insights, narratives, and stories shared in this conference will provide a new perspective and sensitize all stakeholders.
