OBJECTIVE OF THE SEMINAR

The seminar would attempt to fulfill the following objectives

  1. Explore and understand the Theoretical underpinnings of Transformative Constitutionalism in Indian milieu
  2. Deliberate on how the Indian Constitution has been instrumental in transforming Indian society and redeeming the lives of Indian people particularly those on the margins
  3. Discuss the contemporary contentious issues and the possibilities and challenges for the Transformative Constitutionalism
  4. Discuss how Indian Constitution has shaped the parliamentary democracy in India and their continued and concomitant evolution in tandem

THEMES OF THE SEMINAR

Papers may include, but are not limited to the following topics and writers may explore any area touching upon the theme and objectives of the Seminar

  • Exploring Constitutional Morality
  • Women, Equality and the Constitution
  • LGBT Community- Recognition and Rights
  • Minorities and the Constitution
  • Inclusion, Socio-Economic Justice and the Constitution
  • Sovereignty, Constitution and Democracy
  • Information, Media and the contemporary democracy
  • Role of the Constitution in deepening social democracy

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

The seminar invites original unpublished papers from legal professionals, academicians and students that may address one or more of the above mentioned themes.
