Call for papers @Journal of Comparative Literature and Aesthetics (JCLA) ; submit by November 30, 2020

About The Journal :

The Journal of Comparative Literature and Aesthetics (ISSN: 0252-8169) is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal ko published by the Vishvanatha Kaviraja Institute of Comparative Literature and Aesthetics, India since 1977. The Institute was founded on August 22, 1977 coinciding with the birth centenary of legendary philosopher, aesthetician, and historian of Indian art, Ananda K. Coomaraswamy (1877-1947).

The Journal published quarterly as Spring (February), Summer (May), Autumn (August), and Winter (November) issues — is committed to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural issues in literary understanding and interpretation, aesthetic theories, conceptual analysis of art, literature, philosophy, religion, mythology, history of ideas, literary theory, history, and criticism.

Concept Note :

The inception of postmodernism influenced and reformed the approach of scholars towards gender studies by accentuating the differences that existed amongst women and amongst men. Postmodern theorists denied the concept of traditional essentialist practices that identified the common condition of ‘being a man’ or ‘being a woman’ and established the notion of identities to be regularly in the process of formation and hence plural and fragmented, thereby rejecting the modernist claims of coherent, unified self. The dissolution of identity as something stable and fixed shifted the focus of gender critics from construction of femininity to construction of gender broadening the perspective from objective to subjective study.

The notion of ‘Third World woman’ was equally challenged as a racist hierarchy of privilege, where subaltern consciousness is argued to be a construction of socially authorized language, not a self or subject that can will itself to speak.

The special issue on Gender and Sexuality : Masculinities and Femininities invites research papers, articles and book reviews to explore the construction, deconstruction, performativity and un-doing of gender, and how sexuality interacts with the same, to enhance and enrich our understanding of plurality of gender identity. A healthy and fresh approach would not only deal with ample nuances related to gender and sexuality but would also lead to gender sensitization, answering the call of the contemporary times heralding gender inequality and discrimination.

Updated call for papers: Feminism in pandemic times: Reflections and experiences around COVID-19 and beyond Update

Update :

we’ve had an overwhelming response to this call and are excited to see so many papers already published, which reflect the experiences, emotions and changing nature of our lives during this time. Given some time has passed between our call and today, we are also seeing full empirical papers being submitted to this section and would encourage authors to submit those as a regular submission.

We would also like to expand this call to include experiences of the other simultaneous pandemic: racism. Please send us your writing, reflections, narratives, etc. that speak to your experiences, thoughts and other engagements on/with racism.

As a reminder, this is an open call for papers, so no closing date just yet and no word limits.

About :

The Feminist Frontiers section of Gender, Work and Organization is calling for papers, short pieces, alternative narratives that discuss how the current pandemic we are living through affects our lives and livelihoods. As feminists living and possibly struggling with the demands placed on us, we wish to foster dialogue that involve discussions of how to live a feminist life during COVID-19, while attending to the various ways intersectional, postcolonial, transnational, queer and other frameworks can help us understand and relate to the struggles, failures, and resilience experienced. Some issues to attend to are:

  • Resistance to commodification of our homes and lives
  • Parents, single parenting, homeworking and homeschooling
  • Practices (and frictions) of solidarity during crisis
  • Care, vulnerability, health and diversity
  • Industrial relations during this crisis
  • Tensions between best practice diversity employers and a lack of consideration of diversity
  • Community, care and ethics
  • Home as a contested space
  • Work intensification at home, flexible working
  • Borders, lack of free movement, being displaced
  • Eco-anxiety and feminism
  • Saying ‘no’ to enforced ways of working
  • Women’s resistance and the labelling of women’s emotions (you are overwhelmed, you are being
  • hysterical)
  • And others…

Please send us your contributions via the Feminist Frontiers section of the journal. We will act
quickly to review and publish your papers.

MANIT Bhopal online Workshop on “Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials for Interdisciplinary Applications” from 27 to 31st July, 2020

About:

Department Of Mechanical Engineering Maulana Azad National Institute Of Technology , Bhopal ‘MANIT’ is organising a Self Sponsored Online Workshop On “Nanotechnology and Nanomaterials for Interdisciplinary Applications” from 27 to 31 July 2020

Nanotechnology is gaining importance rapidly as the most powerful technology. Its immense potential promises the possibility of significant changes in the near future. Nanomanufacturing and nanotechnology primarily deal with the synthesis, characterization, exploration and exploitation of nanostructured materials. These elements are defined by at most limited one dimension in the nanometer range. Nanostructures establish a bridge among particles and constant bulk orders. Individual nanostructures include clusters, quantum dots, nanocrystals, nanowires, and nanotubes, nanosheets. In automotive, aerospace, defence and sports industries the use of nanosystems result in a reduction in weight and size of the components which further increases the efficiency and comfort levels. As a consequence, ultra-light vehicles, trucks, subways, aircraft and rocket would use far more limited energy, particularly with atomically smooth exteriors to overcome inherent friction and air defence end. This course intends to provide theoretical & practical knowledge and experience in the field of nanotechnology and nanomaterials and their applications in all the fields of society and technology

Last Date to Apply :

The last date to apply in this online workshop of MANIT Bhopal is 27 July, 2020.
