The Public Law vertical focuses on issues of constitutional law, administrative law and allied issues in public policy. The vertical works on engaged projects with Government Ministries and Commissions, providing research and drafting support at various stages of law-making. The vertical also conducts and freely disseminates independent research in areas of legal reform which it believes is critical to India’s future. The chief output from this vertical is in the form of research reports and draft legislation and regulation.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Senior Resident Fellow/ Research Fellow will work as an integral part of Vidhi and will be required to undertake research, analysis and legislative drafting for projects undertaken by the Public Law vertical.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. A bachelor’s degree in law (preference will be given to candidates who have an additional degree in a relevant field with academic publications to their credit);

The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) is an independent academic institution established in 1984. Summary:

RWI is seeking a Programme Officer to fill a full time position at RWI’s office in Istanbul, Turkey, with the Institute’s Programme Human Rights Capacity Development in Turkey, which is an institutional capacity development programme for the justice sector and academic sector that is implemented in support of government reform efforts with financial support from Sida.

In RWI’s Turkey programme a consolidated effort is currently taking place in relation to gender equality work and gender integration as well as in relation to the implementation of adequate results based management systems and tools. For this reason RWI in Turkey is recruiting a programme officer who can spearhead these processes, in cooperation with the other staff members.

Initially, the contract will have duration from 1 July until 31 December 2016, but it will be renewable depending on funding. The assignment is expected to continue until 31 December 2017, with possible extension.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement activities as outlined in approved annual/periodic programme work/activity plans, in accordance with relevant templates and guidelines and in consultation with closes manager and partners, including: developing terms of reference and other contractual documentation for activities, partner institutions and resource persons as well as agendas and materials for training activities; securing resource persons and other necessary inputs for activities; making necessary logistical arrangements (travel, accommodation, etc.) for activities when relevant; and coordinating completion of activity deliverables
  • Together with programme partners and programme staff, facilitate the integration of gender equality considerations into the programme work;
  • Together with programme partners and programme staff, manage the process of addressing the established needs in relation to results based management
  • Facilitate capacity development of programme partners and support programme staff in relation to gender equality promotion and integration of gender equality considerations.
  • Develop and monitor, an accordance with relevant templates and guidelines and in consultation with closest manager and partners, programme budgets, as well as to ensure that budgetary resources are efficiently utilised to achieve expected results;
  • Regularly assess and monitor Programme developments and results, in accordance with approved annual/periodic programme work/activity plans and relevant overall programme documents, including monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Stay informed of relevant developments for the successful carrying out of duties and responsibilities, with particular focus on gender equality promotion;
  • Initiate and maintain regular contact, as well as participate in meetings, with partners as well as relevant authorities, organisations, donors, etc.
  • For completed activities and programmes, prepare narrative reports to analyse the results of the respective activity/programme carried out, in accordance with relevant templates and guidelines, and in consultation with closest manager;
  • Develop annual/periodic programme work/activity plans, in accordance with relevant templates and guidelines, and in consultation with closest manager and partners.
  • Conduct relevant research that informs and enhances the quality of programmes.
  • Periodic travel to programme activity sites to facilitate the achievement of programme results objectives, and to promote and assess programme development

Qualifications:

  • Relevant university degree with preferably specialisation in gender studies, human rights or related field;
  • Knowledge of human rights and human rights framework to gender equality;
  • Relevant professional experience in programme management, with particular experience in results based management and monitoring and evaluation tools;
  • Knowledge of means and methods of international development cooperation work.
  • Extensive experience (minimum six years) from gender equality work and gender integration in the development cooperation context, as well as from Results Based Management;
  • Proven extensive experience from working in teams, preferably in a coordinating role;
  • Excellent writing skills in English and Turkish;
  • Experience from building capacity of others (teaching or similar)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to take initiatives and prioritise work tasks;
  • Ability to work under pressure and complete tasks within given timeframes;

REGISTRAR

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

  • Professor (Law)

 

  1. a) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/allied/ relevant discipline and published work of high quality, actively engaged in   research with evidence of published work with a minimum of 10            publications

as books and/or research/policy papers.

  1. b) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college, and / or experience in research at the University/ National level institutions / industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level.
  2. c) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology-mediated teaching learning process.
  3. d) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance indicator (API) based Performance based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the Regulation in Appendix III of the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers dated September 18, 2010.

OR

An outstanding professional, with established reputation in the relevant field, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned/ allied/ relevant discipline, to be substantiated by credentials.

  • Associate Professor (Law)

 

  1. a) Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline.
  2. b) A Master’s Degree with atleast 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
  3. c) A minimum of eight years of experience of teaching and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research institution/ industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
  4. d) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology – mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students.
  5. e) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out in the Regulation in Appendix III of the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers dated September 18, 2010.

  2. Minimum 5 years experience in Teaching/ Industry/ Research Profession or at least 2 years post PhD is desirable.

  • Assistant Professor (Law, History, Economics, Political Science & English)

 

  1. a) Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
  2. b) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared national Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
  3. c) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (1) and (2) to this Clause, candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions.

Assistant Professor (Management)

SALARY:

  1. The prescribed qualifications and experience are minimum and the mere fact that a candidate possesses the same will not entitle him / her for being called for interview. The University reserves the right to restrict the candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable number on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed; or by any other condition that it may deem fit. the Death Penalty (‘Centre’).
About the Centre:
The Centre is established under the aegis of the National Law University, Delhi and was set up in August2014 to undertake litigation, research and outreach relating to
the death penalty.The objective of our litigation efforts is to ensure quality legal representation to prisoners sentenced to death in India and engage in strategic litigation challenging procedural and substantive aspects of death penalty in India. The aim of the research we undertake is to generate information, through empirical and doctrinal studies, on issues affecting prisoners sentenced to death in India, analyse the developing jurisp
rudence on the death penalty in  India and other jurisdictions, and undertake comparative research to add to the current understanding and debate around the death penalty. Through our outreach programs we engage with various stakeholders and the general public to inform them about the issues concerning death penalty in India and the interaction of prisoners sentenced to death with the criminal justice system. Currently, the Centre has six (6) full-time Research Associates in litigation, research and public affairs roles, in addition to the Director of the Centre and an Office Administrator.
