Shivaji College UNIVERSITY OF DELHI In Collaboration with Mahatma Hansraj Faculty Development Center (MHRFDC) presents ( November 14-20, 2019 :One Week Interdisciplinary Faculty Development Programme

ABOUT THE FDP:

Teaching and research are the backbone of the academic profession. Search for knowledge or any systematic investigation to establish facts is known as research. It is about searching systematically for solutions to problems. For this statistical tools/devices are required. These tools not only provide a way of summarizing data into manageable and quicker way, but also help the researcher to make effective decisions about research problems. The process and product of scientific investigation and enquiry have been shaped by multiple factors, technological leaps and various cultural traditions to name a few. Methodologies, paradigms have metamorphosed considerably, as have ontologies and epistemologies. It may then be safe to say that there exist today in the research thought and action space, both, deviance and convergence from historically held and validated viewpoints. It is thus essential to propagate intersectionalities of seemingly diverse academic fields of knowledge as well as of varied research methods and techniques. An initiative to pivot a move directed at evolving methodologies for interdisciplinary enquiry will be a welcome step in meeting the aforesaid purpose.

ASEAN International Education Programme:

ASEAN International Education Programme:

Is a two-week international study program focusing on ASEAN and East Asian affairs. It is designed for university undergraduate students from around the world. The medium of instruction is English. AsTW was launched in March 2009 in Thailand. From 2009 to 2011, AsTW was co-organized by Kyushu University (Japan) and Mahidol University (Thailand). From 2012 to 2014, Kyushu University worked together with Ateneo de Manila University (the Philippines) and hosted AsTW in the Philippines. From 2015 to 2017, AsTW was held at Vietnam National Universiy, Hanoi (Vietnam). Since 2018, AsTW has been co-organized with University of Malaya (Malaysia) and the AsTW 2020 will be the last AsTW at University of Malaya.

Those six prestigious universities in the ASEAN regions and Japan, namely University of Malaya, Mahidol University, Ateneo de Manila University, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Fukuoka Women’s University, and Kyushu University, have collaborated in the AsTW program with the strong support from the ASEAN Secretariat and AUN.

The 2020 session will convene from February 22 to March 5, 2020
at University of Malaya, Malaysia.

Application deadline:October 27, 2019

Structure of AsTW:
The AsTW curriculum consists of ASEAN Studies (AS) and Asian Languages & Cultures (ALC) courses, supplemented by co-curricular Study Trips, providing students with rich and unique learning opportunities.

The AS component gives AsTW its distinction as a rigorous introduction to selected ASEAN issues that increasingly affect global and regional “ASEAN+3” relations. Students will broaden their knowledge and gain deeper understanding of ASEAN and “ASEAN+3” cooperation through the AS courses. A valuable part of the program is the opportunity to approach ASEAN and East Asia topics from different perspectives.

The ALC component provides students with an intensive Asian language study experience designed to build proficiency in the language chosen and to help with acquisition of basic knowledge of the related culture in an integrated approach. Students will gain a general understanding of the culture and sociolinguistic context of each language. By the end of each course, students are expected to have developed some fundamental skills in listening and speaking as well as an understanding of daily conduct in the appropriate cultural setting.

The combination of AS and ALC studies will contribute to the students’ synthetic understanding of the ASEAN and East Asia communities.

A series of cultural study trips is another attractive part of the program. Each excursion is intended to allow students the chance to increase their awareness and enhance their appreciation of the history, culture, and social life of the country where AsTW is held.

To complete the AsTW program, students must enroll in two courses (one each from the ALC and AS offerings) for credit and participate in all official events. Students who meet all AsTW requirements will be awarded a certificate issued jointly by Kyushu University and a partner university.

Call for Authors: Oxford Constitutional Law:

Call For Authors:

The field of Comparative Constitutional Law has seen increasing academic interest in recent years, not least because of its considerable practical relevance. When confronted with questions concerning the drafting and interpretation of constitutions, government officials, and high court judges increasingly look abroad for assistance and inspiration.

However, in spite of the widely acknowledged societal relevance of the emerging field, reference works are few. What is called for is a comprehensive, inclusive reference work that allows the reader to study constitutional issues both in-depth and in context (historical, conceptual, regional), allowing for wide-ranging research into related areas and topics.

The Max Planck Encyclopedia of Comparative Constitutional Law seeks to fill this gap. In more than 600 peer-reviewed entries, it will cover all issues of constitutional law from a comparative perspective, involving scholars who represent all legal cultures. Published online first, and in due course in print, by Oxford University Press, its purpose is to serve as a go-to source for constitutional scholars and practitioners everywhere.

Constitutional scholars and practitioners who are interested in contributing to the MPECCOL may direct their inquiries to mpeccol@mpfpr.de.
