About the University

Jagan Nath University, Bahadurgarh, Haryana, has been established under Haryana State Legislature Act No. 8 of 2013, and approved under Section 22 of the UGC Act 1956. It started functioning with effect from the academic session 2013-14 on its own 26 acres campus located at State Highway 22, Bahadurgarh- Jhajjar Road, Dist. Jhajjar, Haryana. 

The Department of Law of the University started its programmes from academic session 2014-15 with the object of providing high quality education in legal domain. The Department is offering B.A. LL.B (H), LL.M. 1 Year (Criminal Law) & Ph.D. programmes. The main objective of the programmes is to groom students to acquire profound and exhaustive theoretical and practical knowledge that enables them to tackle complex problems in their respective specialized fields and thereby continue towards their objective of attaining excellence. . 

About the Seminar

A one day National Seminar in collaboration with Research & Innovation Cell of the University is being organized on the topic “Appraisal of Criminal & Correctional Justice Mechanisms in Context of Vulnerable Groups in India”. The Seminar is aimed at providing students, professionals, academicians and research scholars with a venue to express their thoughts and opinions on the mentioned topic.

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE SEMINAR

·         To review the current criminal and correctional justice mechanisms in India.

·          To identify possible amends to enhance the appeal of justice systems to vulnerable groups in India.

·         To create a platform for lawyers and scholars of law for sharing experiences and opinions on mechanism of criminal and correctional justice 

 

Eligibility

 

Students, Scholars, Professional, Academic Community from all over India with interest in the given themes are invited to participate in the Seminar and present their paper.

Ø   Emerging Issues and Awareness towards Criminal and Correctional Justice for Marginalized Groups.

Ø  Law Enforcement Agencies: A Potential Resource to Justice.

Ø   Prison Inmates and their Rights

Ø  Moral Policing in India.

Ø  Upholding Individual’s Religion in a Secular Criminal Justice System.

Ø   Conceptualizing, Discrimination, Exclusion and Inclusion Based on Socio-Economic Factors.

Ø  Public Policies and Empowerment of Marginalized Groups.

Ø  Access to Justice for Victims & Witnesses.

 

Submission Guidelines

No Plagiarism shall be allowed. Participants have the discretion to choose their title however; it must not deviate from the sub-themes provided.

GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT AND PAPER SUBMISSION

 

Ø  Word limits of the Abstract: 250-300 words.

Ø  Word limits of the Full Paper : 5000 excluding of footnotes)

Ø  The main text should be in Times New Roman with font size 12 and spacing of 1.5.

Ø  The footnotes should be in Times New Roman, font size 10 with single line spacing.

Ø  One inch margins on all sides should be maintained.

Ø  Citation Style: Bluebook 20th Edition.

Ø  All Submissions must be the author’s original and unpublished work. Plagrized submission will be disqualified.

Ø  Abstract& Full paper shall be accompanied by a brief profile of the author indicating his/her name of University/Organization/ Institution, Email ID.

Ø   In case of co-authorship at least one author must attend the seminar to present the paper.

Ø  Last Date of Confirmation of Abstract- 5 February, 2020

Ø  Submission of Full Paper, Demand Draft and Registration form (only soft copies of all) 20 February, 2020

Ø  Submission of Demand Draft (Hard Copies)- 25 February, 2020

Ø  Seminar Date- 14 March, 2020
